Workers’ Compensation fraud is estimated to cost businesses billions annually, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau. Fraudulent claims include everything from those who get injured off the job and claim the injury incurred while at work, to double dippers who collect temporary disability benefits while also continuing to work and earn a paycheck from another company, and workers who greatly exaggerate the existence and/or extent of the injury.
At Nixer Comp, we believe everyone has a role to play in combating fraud, which is why we partnered with CoventBridge’s Fraud Identification Recovery Edge (FIRE) and Reward Program. FIRE is designed to identify offenders and eliminate fraudulent threats from the Workers’ Compensation system.
If the investigation results in a criminal conviction, any employee of the client-insured who reported the fraudulent activity will be eligible for a cash award up to $10,000 payable by Nixer Comp. The client-insured is also encouraged to match the reward, although it’s not a mandatory provision in our Nixer Comp program.
As part of the FIRE program, Nixer Comp will provide information about Fraud Awareness, including posters, that can be distributed to employees.
